Sales Tip of the Week

I have stumbled upon an interesting sales tactic that has been very effective every time I use it. I now use this concept or technique as much as possible. The concept is structured around starting by asking for help. So below is my sales tip of the week.

What I have found is that if you ask for help and are genuinely interested in being aided by them, people will almost always assist you if they can.

I started using this when calling large corporations and I was trying to find out who was the person I should be talking to regarding the particular issue or subject I wanted information on.

I now try and implement this concept in any sales interaction I have where I am trying to gather information. Not only do I get assistance and the information I am looking for but the people who have helped me seem to have really enjoyed the interaction as well because they were able to help someone. I think feeling good after you have helped someone is a universal human trait.

If you want to see a great example of this principal regarding the good feeling that comes from helping other people watch the movie We Are Marshal. Watch the scenes closely where Jack Lengyel interacts with the West Virginia University coach. It is one of my favorite parts of the movie.

Try it out. Hopefully it can help you as much as it has helped me and you will probably make some people feel good along the way too.
