The ROI Of Website Traffic Increasing Activities
Note: Data is the total of the results we have seen occur from our own and our customers' websites. 3 Year ROI includes 3 years of sales for customers that have recurring annual revenue. Data based on most recent data set.
The Case For Website Traffic & Conversion Optimization Services
Most marketing method options you have for your business are one time benefit spends and not recurring benefit marketing. When you advertise in the newspaper, on the radio or with Google Adwords, you pay once and get the benefit of the advertising only once. Once your ad is done, the benefit is gone.
With search engine optimization (SEO), you get a recurring benefit. For the spending of time and money (if you pay someone to do it for you, you can also do the work yourself), the benefits from that work lasts for many years. The benefit is not only one time, but you continue to get the benefit into the future. If through search engine optimization you can get your website traffic to increase per day, you not only get the increase today but tomorrow and the next day and each day into the foreseeable future.
If you stop the SEO work on your website you will still get benefit from the work beyond when the work stops. That being said over time it may subside and it some instances it never subsides.
Would you rather spend time and money on marketing initiatives that benefit your business once or for many years?

Key Task #1 - What Do Search Engines Want To Do
If you do what search engines want you to do, they will reward you. If you do what they don't want you to you will be penalized. The search engines want you to make your website load faster, accurately describe the content of your pages with proper titles and provide high value content that readers will be yearning to read. Search engines want to make a better experience for their users. If you make your pages load faster, the content of your pages match their titles, and the pages contain high value content it will improve the users experience. This will lead to your website being rewarded by the search engines.
Key Task #2 - Publish Great Content
If you publish great content the search engines will notice. Great content gets linked to more, gets talked about more in social media and is clicked on more in search results. The search engines will notice this and continually push these pages up in their rankings. In addition you will get more direct traffic. At the end of the day great content only leads to more traffic which is what you want.
Key Task #3 - Publish Content Regularly
What website do you think search engines will want to send traffic to, one that has not changed in 5 years or one that was just updated and added new content yesterday? Search engines value websites that are updated on a regular basis. This is called content freshness. At a minimum each website should be posting a new page once a week if it wishes to improve its rankings and traffic.
Key Task #4 - Use Good Long Tail Keywords
Long tail keywords are phrases people search for less often that are usually 3 words longer or more (ie. marketing = short tail, marketing methods with positive ROI = long tail). These long tail keywords almost always have less competition so it is easier to rank for them. In addition they account for about 70% of all search engine queries and convert on average into sales at a rate of about 2 times higher than short tail keywords.
Key Task #5 - Make Page Titles Match The Title Meta Tag
The page title is the words at the top of the article. You want these to match the words at the top of the browser window, which is the Title Meta Tag. In order to do this you need to do some very basic website coding. With most website platforms like wordpress, joomla or Drupal there is even a field provided where you can just type in what you want without doing the coding. If you do this it confirms for search engines that your page is about that topic. If the two are different it confuses the search engines in regards to what your page is about - Download the free report to see visual examples
Key Task #6 - Make Page Titles Match The URLs
The same way you want the page title and the page title meta tag to match you also want the page title to match the pages URL. The page's URL is what is displayed in the address bar. For this page the URL is http://www.profitworks.ca/blog/marketing-strategy/387-increase-website-traffic-rankings-the-7-keys-seo-tasks. The closer you can get the page title to match the URL the better. At a minimum you want the main keywords in your page title to also be in the page's URL. Again by having these two items match closely it helps search engines know what your page is about. If they know what your page is about they can rank it higher for that topic. If they don't know what your page is about it does not make sense for them to rank your page for anything, since they don't know what it is relevant for. Again in order to set the page URL it requires some very basic website coding. With most website platforms like wordpress, joomla or Drupal there is a field provided where you can just type in what you want without doing the coding. - Download the free report to see visual examples
Key Task #7 - Include Page Title Keywords In The Meta Description Tags
Again you want consistency to help the search engines know what your page is about. A third way you can do this is to include the same keywords in both the page title and the page's meta description. The meta description tag is what is displayed in the few lines below the link in search engine results. If the two are different it confuses the search engines in regards to what your page is about. You don't need them to match exactly but you want the main keywords in your title to also be in the meta description. You also want a good description that will entice people to click on your link. In order to set the meta description you need to do some very basic website coding. With most website platforms like wordpress, joomla or Drupal this can easily be done without doing any coding. If you do this it confirms for search engines that your page is about that topic. - Download the free report to see visual examples
